Auditions
“Come one, come all, and show us your LARP (Live Action Role Play) skills at the open call for auditions!”
Things to know
What is a cold read?
A cold read simply means that anyone is welcome to show up and read for any of the characters using the selected text provided.
What does dice rolling mean?
No D&D experience is necessary! Just be prepared to have fun and get silly. To understand what D&D is, it’s a lot easier to just play, so a part of the audition process will include a mini-D&D session.
Who can I read for?
While there are a total of 9 roles in the show, we will only be featuring readings from the following 4:
Is it an open casting opportunity?
Yes – this is Dungeons and Dragons – anyone can play anyone but our production team will pick the actors best suited for each role.
What if this all sounds awesome, but you’re not ready to be on stage? We always need folks behind the scenes. From costumes and props, to stage management and lighting, no theatre project is possible without the work of production assistants. If you’re game to learn, we’re game to teach!
How do I get there?
Here’s a good ol’ map to guide your way.
What does a typical audition look like?
- Arrival at the location
- Check in & sign in
- Select reading material & take your time chilling and reviewing
- When it’s your turn, read for your chosen part
- We MAY ask you to read other parts or change things up. It’s all to see how you take direction and see how you might play a different character. It’s totally normal and doesn’t mean you’re doing anything wrong!
- Play a little D&D with some fellow auditioners
- Actual reason for this is seeing how potential cast mates work together in an improv setting
- Go home!
How long until you hear from us?
We will have auditions completed on January 18th and casting complete by the following Saturday. Any call backs will be coordinated during that week so a decision can still be made by January 25th.
